CGMP: White shirts (suitably undercover)

…
After Purity showed us Edita Gruberoba for White Shirt Tuesday, let me follow up with the prove that, indeed most everyone in this production was sporting white shirts, even if at times concealed under equally attractive suits. Proveabove: tenor boy crush Pavol Breslik and Eye Bags mezzo favorite Alice Coote.
Munich revives this production in September 2009, but while Breslik and Gruberova are onboard again, Coote will be missing (Carmen Oprisanu will be singing instead).

And word is that Coote was wonderful, shame she won’t be in the revival!
Well it is a shame for Munich (just from listening to the radio airing back in Feb – wish I could have seen it) but it’s great for those in Britain (in Werther for Opera North in Sep 2009). But get those white shirts ready for Coote in Ariodante in Oviedo directed by David Alden in December.
I confess that I still carry the Orsini/Gennaro duet from the February airing around on my mp3 player. Although by all means, it should have worn off by now.
December in Oviedo… thank for that bit of news, Vita!
I hear they have some nice nativity showings, too, so… where is that pencil of mine?
They sure seem to like their mezzos round that part of Spain. And course she’s doing a stint at the Edinburgh Festival in August too for those of us around these parts.
Oviedo looks lovely but I am already promised to Munich and VK then (mezzos, you wait ages for a good one and then they all come along at once!!).
