Mi chiamano white shirt…

…
Above postcard reached me via my-friend-the-dramaturg, who found the time for a visit to charming little Opera Chemnitz (surprisingly, with a playlist more interesting than several bigger houses grouped together), where some savvy stage director (production: Dietrich Hilsdorf) apparently realized the subtext potential of “La Bohème”, where even dark dresses can look like white shirts.
Most people may see “La Bohème” as a straight piece, but opera dykes knew along that if a girl complains about cold hands, you don’t wax poetry, but you get her a muff instead (now if only I could keep a straight face typing this…).

Dearest Anik
How pleased I am to see the muff making a comeback amongst young gals today… why when I was a gal a young lady would *never* been seen relieving her chills in anything but the finest muff…
Now, La Boheme, there is a heterosexual version? How very novel! I must look out for it.

…this ruined my last attempt at a straight face! *chortle*
I’m sure I don’t know *what* you mean madam…
Really girls, lets have a modicome of good taste here! LOL.
Ah, dear PL… “Why reach for the moon, when we have the gutter.” (Which, by the way, if the title of my biography if that delightful young man Mr Vidal would return my calls…)
Muffs are ALWAYS in very good taste…
