“Mitridate” streamblogging White Shirt extravaganza tonight!

[Are you pondering what I’m pondering? – Since some of us (mainly, me) were unable to watch the ARTE Concert livestream of “Mitridate” from Brussels last night, we have scheduled a White Shirt ‘live’blog event for tonight, 9 p.m. Brussels time (GMT+2). – Yves Saelens (Arbate), Simona Šaturová (Ismene), Myrtò Papatanasiu (Sifare), Michael Spyres (Mitridate) in Mozart’s “Mitridate”, Brussels 2016. – Photo Credit: Bernd Uhlig]

Since ARTE is still busy encoding last night’s live stream and does not yet have it as stream on demand, we may be depending on your own copies from last night, which we will simply switch on at 9 p.m. (GMT+2) tonight for some collective Mozart White Shirt fangirling.

I know I said “May 25th” before. But since the stream is out and patience is not my biggest virtue, and since some of us would be unable to attend on the 25th, we’ll do it tonight.

If ARTE has the stream available by then, I will put up a note. If not, and if that leaves anyone who wants to watch and blog along in need of a copy, just leave a comment with a valid email address below and I’ll pm you a download link, courtesy of thadieu. (and with this repeat, I think everyone interested should have gotten the message…?)

I’ll put up a liveblogging post shortly before 9 p.m. and then it’s “flail away”.

Any of you interested in joining the party: see you tonight!

  1. Hi, I’m really sorry to butt in, but would you mind sending me the link as well? I’m pretty new to opera but am very interested in learning more, especially about mezzos – and the occasional soprano – in pants!

  2. Good “morning” everyone! I’m awake and ready to roll. To anyone who would like a link, you can also send me an email at thadieu13 at yahoo dot com in case Anik is not able to respond on short notice.
(ps- Aspasia’s credit is missing on the post page Anik!)
Also, for anyone new to the opera, besides googling the synopsis you can also follow along with the English-translated libretto here.

    1. ps- to anyone unfamiliar with dropbox: you do not need to sign up for an account in order to download the link, simply click on the [X] button at upper right corner of the pop-up window when it says “sign up/in” , afterward you get to the link and it might try to “play”. At this point on the upper right corner of the entire page there should be a blue button for [Download] -> [Direct download] to save to your computer.

  3. Thanks for linking to the translated libretto – was having some trouble following what little I saw yesterday since I am familiar with neither the opera or the languages! 😂
