White Shirt Tuesday: Top Me Off, II

[And since we are on the issue of top hats: Does it count when it is not the White Shirt who is wearing the top hat? And when it’s not really a top hat, but a creepy clown cone? – Perhaps not, but who would ever mind Kasarova in a dress shirt and tails? (besides, we contemplated Kasarova in a top hat two weeks ago. Transfer points?) – Deborah York (Amore) and Vesselina Kasarova (Orphée) in Gluck’s “Orphée”, Munich 2003]

And since I haven’t posted any screencaps of this production for far too long: here, have some more (without the creepy baby doll).

    1. Yes! Especially noteworthy since clips posted keep disappearing (and the DVD is out of print, too). York is really good here (despite the Stephen King vibes), as is Rosemary Joshua – heartfelt and noble. But Kasarova… *sighs*

    2. yes, i really love her phrasing during the hell scene as well as *that* stance on high ground with hands in the back as all parted way.. and then the walk… i was so sad the clip “amour viens rendre… ” got removed.. along w the duet from smorgie channel… greetings all from alaska! (and slow internet.. am lurking big time .. )

      1. somewhere, a mezzo angel lost their wings (or trousers?) when THAT clip went offline! One more reason to own that DVD.
