Tank Top Tuesday: As if.

Mitridate Paris 2016 - Patricia Petibon (Aspasia), Myrtò Papatanasiu (Sifare)

[Actually, that is a pretty good question. Not that I would have an answer (other than: “uuhm, more screencaps?”) – Patricia Petibon (Aspasia) and Myrtò Papatanasiu (Sifare) in Mozart’s “Mitridate”, Paris 2016]

As if I would pass up the chance to post another shot of this for Tanktop Tuesday ( (c) Dorothy Snarker). As if!

Also, there clearly has been a transcription error in the aria, since it should not be “Come vuoi d’un rischio in faccia / Ch’io risponda a’ detti tuoi?”, but rather something along the lines of “Come vuoi d’un rischio in faccia / Ch’io risponda a’ delti tuoi?”

But see how those subtitles are glaringly in the way, despite posing reasonable questions?  – Don’t worry, I also prepared a speechless edition:

(PS. on the level of the diegesis, I think this is one answer to the question already.)

  1. So, I have to ask. Is there actually a screencap spreadsheet for the two broadcasts? Because I am just nerdy enough to be interested in a copy of that.

Again, all in the name of… Science.

    1. There is no full spreadsheet, I only did a few comparison shots in the first scene and there are moments we aware of in terms of difference (e.g. as thadieu pointed out, the end of Lungi), but I did not compile a list of them. But I will likely watch them parallel at some point and could share my research after the fact.

    1. Sometimes I wonder about directors going in very clear color-coding in that sense – where is the point where a singer has to pull off something not her palette at all (and unless you change the eyebrow color, that always shows). I get that the blonde wig in this case is a stand-in for being masked, perhaps? But what would they have done e.g. if the casting had chosen a leading lady with much darker skin tone? (Good luck pulling that off without the input of RuPaul!)
