Arsace Matters: Al trionfo io già m’appresto

[I wasn’t lying when I said that this was shaping up to be a very “Semiramide” week. Jessica Pratt (Semiramide) and Silvia Tro Santafé (Arsace) in Rossini’s “Semiramide, Florence 2016. – Photo Credit: Opera di Firenze/Maggio Musciale Fiorentino]

In the just-finished “Semiramide” run in Florence (in a staging by the late Luca Ronconi), it seems Sivlia Tro Santafé’s Arsace (click above to enlarge) rocked the house. I am still looking at the broadcast listings…

Meanwhile, check out the bachtrack review, also for an answer to the question of how to accesorize your breastplate (why with leather pants and red heels, of course).

Since Tro Santafé is one of those artists that do not have a large YT showing, there is nothing of her Arsace there, but how about some Romeo from earier this year at the Liceu instead?

  1. I was lucky enough to see this production a few weeks ago, and I must say Sivlia Tro Santafé really did rock the house. This was the first time I had seen or heard this opera and I can’t wait to see it again!

    1. Oh lucky you! And it’s such a great opera, too.
My first time seeing Tro Santafé was many years ago as Polinesso in Ariodante, and she likewise made a very strong impression, I always remembered her after that show.
