[Feeling up for some hardcore regie (and GSS) this weekend? Get in, white shirts, we’re going Herheim (and we’ll spend good Monnaie on it)! – Clip with thanks to Oceano Mare]
Time for some 19th century this weekend with Dvořák’s “Rusalka” in the 2012 retake (later issued on DVD) of Stefan Herheim’s classic production – liveblog on Saturday, Feb. 18th, at the customary hour of 9p.m. (UTC+1).
The production is out on DVD, though there is an circulating small-size safety copy online that could be made available to parties interested in participating.
Since this is a work the MET just lavishly tanked in illustrative decor, how about getting down to the nitty-gritty core issues of the plot with some Herheim?
Also, since neither thadieu nor I could make it to Papatanasiu’s new foray into Verdi with the “Boccanegra” Amelia role debut in Antwerp/Gent (if you are in the area: go! Opera Vlaanderen is a house with innovative programming that should get even more love. And please tweet us from the intermission), we’ve decided to get a GSS Regie fix either way. – If we do blond hairpieces, at least we do it in style.
