White Shirt Mothership

[Why are the White Shirts called White Shirts? Between this and this, I rest my case. – Vesselina Kasarova (Orphée) in Gluck’s “Orphée et Eurydice”, Munich/BSO 2003. ]

Since work this week didn’t allow to post this for White Shirt Monday, let me make it up to you with an extended version, all courtesy of last week’s “Orphée” liveblog.

Warning: this post is heavy on screencaps. In fact, it consists of little more than copius screencaps. Consult your data plan before proceeding.

This is not a very substantial post. Or is it?

Always consult the choir, particularly when the choir is wearing bowties.

Collar High. (It’s a medical condition)

Tail Cuts.

Listening to woodwinds never looked so good.

The Violin And I.

Strings of Conversation.

Climbing invisible ropes. Still looking good.

Eyebrow Game revisited.

Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

Timeless Classic.

Curtain Call.

Emergency Distress Call.

Ready to Run-Rumble.

Viardot, Ferrier, Kasarova: Dynasty of Legends.

The Violin And I, earthbound (barely).

The Violin And I (underworldly. – The underworld never looked so inviting!)

Hell’s Kitchen Serenade

If these are the Champs Elysées, the mezzo is the vocal Arc de Triomphe.

Christmas Time at Champs Elysées?

Outmaxing the queer-female bingo chart.

As far as throwing stage (prop) partners up against the front portal goes, this is still beating Macerata hands down.

#FangirlReactions in green.

Celestial Siesta.

Very Austrian Manners?

Free-range mezzo in their natural habitat, surrounded by their likewise natural gaggle of fangirls.

Teaching the Nymphs some Shirtsleeves 101.

Pining against green backdrop. – Wait, where have I heard that one before?

Fangirl Documentary Shot.

Scenes of a Marriage.

Emergency Exit: Follow the mezzo.

No exit at all.

At a Distance.

Communication skills?

#I came out to have a good time and I’m honestly feeling so attacked right now.

Chaise Redux.

Channeling Ferrier.

No need to bring flowers.

Rolling Technique (messy progressive).

Side Eye.

Perfect pose is perfect. #1570

Perfect pose is still perfect.

Raising Sopranos (and fangirls) from the dead. Again.

…tissues, please.

I see your DiCaprio Romeo and raise you THIS.

Don’t Stop The Music!

All By Myself.

Tails II to the Rescue!

Fangirl to the right cheering for a happy ending.

    1. this is heaven, i looping… (while fighting segmentation fault, perhaps a better collar will solve that..)

(ps- i was at that other WS page, “A day in the life of a white shirt” , all saved by Dehggi, i saved nothing, except from memory…)

      1. I thought it was a collab between you two? I’m just glad we have that one saved away.
Over here, finally a half hour to scroll through the Vienna 17/18 program – Ariodante with Connolly, no MP whatsoever. TADW season annoucement is still in the pipeline, so we’ll see, but I am already seeing us traipsing through Naples or Antwerp.

        1. at least Connolly! at not another CT… do you also have the dates for those Ariodante? would have been nice if Polinesso to be Prina’s.. who is singing Ginevra? Petibon? 🙂 and Dalinda?

          1. Ha, if it were Petibon (and/or Piau), you’d have heard me scream all across the Atlantic.
I guess we’ll have to head to TCE for Petibon (sadly, not in compination with MP – is there any of her schedule for 17/18 out yet?)

          2. …kind of not Petibon. I wish I could be more excited about her – she will be techncially very good. Perhaps it’ll be a staging that agrees with her?

      2. also: happy you’re having some fun with this (and not just me. took me a while to set it up because it was so many caps (and still have a few extra saved away for some rainy Mondays))

  1. that tear shot belongs on my wall… to help me cope with segmentation fault..
with that, i bid you a good afternoon, time to zz on this side…
i don’t know what’s going on with MP and her PR machine and plan.. dont tell me she only sings Boccanegra then entire next 2 years…

    1. she did mention Boccanegra in Naples, but that’s the only thing I remember.
      (and no, please not that)
      Sleep well!

    1. (a bit totally unrelated.. but perhaps not, if you can find VK’s fb site, she’s now recording sections of rehearsal for fans 🙂 , of the concert last night, Monteverdi’s Lasciatemi morire.. , i have decided not to link outside anymore coz last time i did so she took the video off, not sure if just a coincidence..)

      1. completely related,thank you!
(I’d probably also lay low with the linking, although it’s likely not about your sharing at all)

  2. very funny 🙂

I still envy that cat 😀

no kdding! When I first got this DVD I used to watch it a couple of times a week for a few good months. Short operas have their perks.

one of my top fave VK stage moments. Comes to mind every time I see someone try (too) hard to be stylish and fail miserably.

        1. No kidding, between this and her (not as well-tailored, but VK attitude will upgrade anything) Sesto get-up, the term White Shirts was coined.

          1. Those are ok, but I don’t think I’ll move past chin-ups in this life. But gif program much appreciated 😉
