        1. November! Well. Just in time for the holiday season index.

There is a 20 min excerpt from Strasbourg on YT (I found it linked on Twitter by @sestoinfedele) that is rather impacting. Vocally, but it also has Crébassa in a bowtie.

  1. oh, and apropos sopranos (no, not the certini one. the other one), thadieu, look at the Madrid 17/18 programming – there’s your McVicar Britten!

      1. Good, good, but btw., has any of you spotted Prina somewhere? So far there’s only Mrs Quickly announced (curious about that but probably won’t travel to Parma for it) and her WH recitals, so I’m slowly starting to get anxious, have all her roles been taken over by CTs?.

(greetings from chicago airport… still not home yet since but already missing Turin deeply, those pizzas are just beyond tasty and great in texture…)

      1. Great, now I want pizza, and I haven’t even had breakfast yet.

But food in Madrid can be great, too 😉 and I am sure we could come up with a culinary excursion through Greece (bonus points for landmarks of Antiquity).

    1. Just looked it up, Frankfurt will be released on 26th April. Hope you will have left the Airport by then, being stuck is so annoying 😦

        1. Hehe! My dream for Frankfurt: the Madrid Rodelinda touring there (as is apparently planned, but when?) with the same cast, but Bertarido and Eduige switching singers.

  2. and in other news to brighten your morning: a flaming flare of Petibon….

…and JDD getting back into the ring as Ariodante. In a tux.

          1. LOL; yes, it would. But I would also suggest a more palatable hour after testing that each of us has access!

          2. oh man, 8 p.m. would be pretty good. Perhaps we should set up something after all, see if it works? if thadieu is free?

          4. also, as I just learned, today is apparently Lesbian Visibility Day? Whoever programmed that Calisto premiere was WAY ahead of me. Four for you, Strasbourg!

          5. we’ve been really overlooking in scheduling… coz i could have also worked it out with you for this had we known earlier..
there’s hope for the tele ?

          6. yes, we could have. Bummer.

but according to France3, there should be a broadcast. – How apt is our Parisian division in the art of capture?

          7. the France-TV stations own Culturebox, so I tentatively cross my fingers – because the channel stream is geoblocked.

          8. if you would be so kind (you know my lack of skill around the FB…)

(oh, speaking of FB: why is that when I recently speak of a mezzo of interest in regards to Baroque interpretation, the next thing I see of her is photo ops with a certain compatriot soprano?! Does no one consider my fragile constitution any longer when it comes to these things?)

          9. reply from Vivica Genaux site 🙂
“Vivica Genaux Fan Page: Sunday’s and Tuesday’s performances are being filmed, but a date for the telecast has not yet been announced to the cast. More information will be posted when available.”

          10. That is certainly a good point, and a good image.
(While Customary Certain Soprano is also uploading Baroque-adjacent material)

          11. oh, and thadieu? on the FB contributions of A Certain Soprano?
hold onto your pull-up bar because the most recent entry is making the question of “ðove sono?” rather rhetorical since the obvious answer is “right here”

          12. now that you mention it, I’ll go back and check manually. Perhaps there were clips and we missed them?

          13. ah well. we could always send ARTE to capture the Geneva DonG instead. (though I prefer “Figaro”)

(And definitely WSM material, though I won’t touch it since she’s so adamant about the copyright there).

          15. now that calls for a rewrite of the ending: send the tenor to the convent, escape with other soprano.

          16. can also incorporate DonnaE taking out the trash, while flexing her tattoo. that was the first time Zerlina saw it.. oh, let us not forget about Zerlina… let me think, when is it that DonnaA spotted ∂…

          17. probably when DonnaE caught her in her arms in the recit preceding “Or sai chi l’onore?” (ah, no, bugger, that’s with Ottavio). In the preceding quartet & recit, when she tries to convince her that DonG is a scam.

Am very much for taking out the trash for Zerlina. 😉

Zerlina/DonnaE might be the likelier pairing, because between Anna an Elvira, one has to deal with sexual assault by a man that the other did not want to let go off for a long time – difficult situation. (I would find a way to write around it. 😉 )

          18. I trust him with Mozart more than with Handel, I’ll say that. Still, with a Wieler/Morabito evening fresh in mind, Bösch doesn’t go as deep for me.

          19. Yes, I can imagine, but the Amsterdam Figaro was really not bad, quite a lot of charming ideas, I was planning to re-visit it anyway these days for Esposito (and one can of course never appreciate this Cherubino enough).

          20. I had completely forgotten that was with Esposito, too! And yes, there were quite a few ideas/images that were *very* good – if I remember our liveblog correctly, I wasn’t enthusiastic about the gender politics, but it really was a fun night.

    1. So… the Geneva programming for 17/18 is out.
      Observations:
      1) The Currentzis Tito tour still doesn’t have a Sesto named.
      2) Alarcón’s Annual Baroque Feast continues with King Arthur. I hope he brings Flores. And possibly others.
      3) ARTE: Please get on that “Arthur”.
      4) thadieu, we will be traveling to Geneva. (couldn’t they pick someplace a little cheaper?!!).

        1. between Ciofi and MP, I don’t even care who sings whom!

And given it is a Bösch production, at least there’ll be some acting involved for the cast. Let’s just hope it’ll be more Amsterdam Figaro and less Geneva Alcina.
