[“And I look for contralto Ottones! And I come up empty-handed!” – Well, not this time: Sara Mingardo (Ottone) in Monteverdi’s “L’incoronazione di Poppea”, Salamanca 2017.]
“Poppea” again! This time the Alessandrini-conducted take from Salamanca, 2006, also knows as the “contralto Ottone in fatigues” production, to be live-blogged this upcoming Saturday, June 10th, at the customary hour of 9 p.m. (UTC+2).
Since some of the usual crowd, including myself, are short on time this week due to work, it is possible that we will forward some bits that do not contain a) Mingardo or b) Invernizzi (so, if you wach Poppeas for Seneca’s monologues or for (counter)tenor Nerones: sorry in advance. We may come up with Bridelli-cutouts or Coote-cutouts or vonOtter-cutouts to compensate).
The production is online on YT in three parts, easily searchable/findable. Let us know if there are troubles and you’d like to join in (as always, I am trying to keep links to full productions out of the post text since we like to maintain them and keep them available for the community).
